What settings do I need to drop 160k soybeans with a 60 cell plate? I bought the planter and don’t have a manual. Thank you!

I assume you have Kinze brush meters. The population is 5 times the corn chart rate because
the finger meter has 12 fingers and your brush meter has 60 cells. The population for corn would
be 32000 - 160,000/5 = 32000. Going to the corn chart for 32000 it says 11 driver and 9 driven.

Your corn setting times 5.
30k corn = 150 soybean with 60 cell kinze meter
Get a book or at least a print out of the pop chart. I change pops many times through a year .

You have an old planter-prior to 1979 with the cast sprockets. Email me if you want-I have the chart scanned into my computer. I could send you a copy.

You are talking about a Kinze brush meter correct ?

Not a 56 cell JD radial bean meter

Not a actual plate like the old style plate planters ? Not sure but I think those could have been an option on a 7000 but were sort of uncommon.

Basically you want to set it for a 32K corn rate.

12 fingers in a corn meter so it's a 5:1 ratio for the 60 cell plate.

32,000 x 5 = 160,000

Here are the stickers for the 7000 planter

https://www.joharrissales.com/assets/Uploads/PDFs/PlantingCharts/Transmission-Diagram.pdf

You have the older sticker at the bottom which uses double length chain. The top sticker is for those that have newer style sprockets. Don't worry the ratio is still the same on both stickers.

Here is the finger pickup chart

https://www.joharrissales.com/assets/Uploads/PDFs/PlantingCharts/FPU-Chart.pdf

See pic 1 below for the 32K rate and 22-18 sprocket combo.

See pic 2 below for the correct 22-18 sprockets for the regular tooth transmission.

See pic 3 for the 11-9 tooth sprockets for double length chain you have.

Pic 3 is what you have.

11 bottom shaft driver

9 top shaft driven

Pic 4 are your sprockets

Previous discussion of all of this.

So I need to take out the cotter pin in pic one, pull the sprockets out and rearrange the two that are show in pic 2? Then take the master link out of the chain to the right and put it on the smaller driven sprocket up top?

For some reason your black rubber spacers on the bottom shaft seem wrapped in black tape? Pull the tape off and you will probably find old cracked spacers, might need new ones.

Just move those spacers around on both shafts so the right sprockets line up, and put the spacers back in to keep the sprockets in position. Should be no need to remove a shaft.

I got the one on the right figured out. The one on the left has me stumped. In Von’s photo it looks like I need to put the chain on the 11 tooth sprocket. If I do that it will not be straight; but I can’t swap those two sprockets without taking the shaft out to swap them.

You have three more spacers to the right of the bottom shaft, under tape, to work with.

Oh, you moved the drive chain, the long one to the left. Don’t do that. Put it back, that one does not move. You are interpreting something wrong.

Keep the left chain in its original position always. Like this picture. That left chain stays like this always.

All your other sprockets slide back and forth to line up with each other using the short chain.

You need to remove the lump of spacers to the right under the tape.

Then all those loose sprockets slide all the way to the right.

Thr. The left most sprocket of the bottom loose ones will line up with the rightmost loose sprocket on the top shaft, which I think is what you are aiming for?

Maybe I should go back and read the numbers better and I don’t understand tho.......

Yup.

There are 5 loose sprockets on the top shaft, and 5 loose sprockets on the bottom shaft.

You want the top set of sprockets slid all the way to the left (as you did) and you want the bottom group of sprockets slid all the way to the right (you need to remove those remaining spacers) and then the proper 2 sprockets will line up for the short chain to cover.

The drive chain on the very left is not part of this, it always remains there on the very left on its fixed sprocket. (I believe there is a special sprocket made to put in place here for making a half rate, but that doesn’t apply here now.)

Paul-

Is it just me, or is the left chain (the drive chain?) on at an angle?
It looks like there's another sprocket on the front of the left chain on the drive shaft, closer to the frame. It looks like the chain would run more true if on that sprocket.
But I've been wrong before.
